A loop around mounts Taisen (1,786m), Nakadake (1,791m) and Kujū (1,788m), all part of the 100 famous Japanese mountains.
The itinerary starts with a loop around Taisen, which I'm not sure I would ever do again. The route is basically tons of rocks and bushes, so I got a few bruises and also hit my head a few times in the woods, because unless you are 1m50 tall, you need to pay attention to both feet and head. The path wasn't always straightforward either.
The other mountains have easier routes, though the ascent is a bit technical.
I rented a car and started at the free parking lot, which happens to be full around 7:30am, so get up early if you want to use it. There are a few other parking lots around, but I'm not sure if they are accessible or tied to hotels.
