Mount Yake

Trail Running

⚠️ DO NOT FOLLOW THIS ITINERARY ⚠️

Good, now that you are warned.

Found this route on AllTrails but I wouldn't follow it as-is. A few km in you're forced onto the road and through two tunnels used by cars and buses. Not fun.

That said, the highlights are worth it. Mount Yake was stunning, with snow still on the path in mid-May. Tip: head up early and you'll naturally follow other hikers with crampons.

After descending I attempted Nishihotakaguchi but turned back due to snow and low energy.

TL;DR: Target Mount Yake and Nishihotakaguchi, but plan your own route to avoid the road. Mid-May means expect snow, bring crampons or go with the crowd.
